Description

The Role

Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a new Chief People and Culture Officer (CPCO); a voting Board position reporting to our Chief Executive Officer, Trish Bennett. Our CPCO will be responsible for inspiring and leading our high performing people services function and for designing and delivering our people and workforce plans. Supporting our response to national and regional strategy, you will champion our values and behaviours, continue to embed our Restorative Just and Learning Culture, and progress our commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion. As the CPCO you will support the development of our newly formed Executive team and our work to develop the wider Board. You will also work collaboratively with our partners across Cheshire and Merseyside to develop and implement effective people, culture and workforce plans across our wider system.

The Person

We are seeking a strategic and values-driven leader, with experience at or close to Board level, and a track record of leadership across HR, OD, and Culture. With a collaborative approach to transformational workforce change and continuous improvement, you will excel in complex partnership environments, working across organisational boundaries to influence decisions and drive innovation. NHS experience is not essential; as a senior leader you should bring transferable experience of interpreting national policy, assessing its impact against organisational plans, and have wide-ranging experience of leading the people and culture agenda within a complex multi-professional workforce.

The Organisation

Mersey Care is one of the country’s largest Trusts providing physical and mental health services, serving more than 1.4 million people across the North West. We provide specialist inpatient and community services that support physical and mental health and specialist inpatient learning disability, addiction and brain injury services.

We have more than 11,000 dedicated staff providing services from across 230 sites as well as in patients’ homes. With an annual budget of more than £750m, our remit includes the provision of a range of specialist services across wider regions, and we are one of only three Trusts in the UK that offer high secure mental health care.

Our vision is ‘to lead the way in perfect, whole person care that helps people of all ages live healthier lives’.
